I am using Microsoft Office For Mac on my MacBook Pro (MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014). Primarly Excel and Word. I recently (maybe 8 - 12 weeks ago) updated my Operating System (OS) to macOS High Sierra 10.13.3. For a while now, maybe 2 weeks, I have been unable to retrieve my documents in these appications. Microsoft Office looks terrible on the retina display. Here's some screenshots:-1.OFFICE FOR MAC 2011. 2.OFFICE FOR MAC 2011 Pic 2. 2.OFFICE FOR MAC 2011 -v- TEXTEDIT. Basically the only solution is to scale down the resolution or wait for Microsoft to update the software. Sep 09, 2012 Being Microsoft it will not be updated to take advantage of the Retina display for a while. Yes you can downgrade the Mac by installing Windows via Boot Camp and then Office. It will then boot.

So even though I'd just downloaded the most recent Microsoft Office for Mac, I also attempted to update my Microsoft Office per the suggestions in the other post and in doing so, I was given the warning 'A version of the software required to install this update was not found on the volume' so I was denied an update.

If you were trying to install an Office 2011 update, that means that you do not have Office 2011 installed.
First, try to remove the old Office version (if you can open that version, you are using Office 2008) > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2500821/en-us

Then, install Office 2011, and install the most recent update from the Microsoft website > http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads First install the 14.1.0 update, and then install the 14.3.9 update.
